It has been suggested that we need another photo contest. I agree!! The inspiration for this new contest is the wonderful 365 grateful project by Hailey Bartholomew from Brisbane Australia. Basically, to combat depression, Hailey started taking a photograph each day with a little written description about it, to visually document something she was grateful for in her life. Hailey says “ Hailey’s 365 Grateful Project has become an inspiration to many, including us, with a documentary being made about the extraordinary power of gratitude.
When we came across this 365 Grateful project online, it reminded us of a past contest that we had. Ours was in 2003!! and was called The Official Charles Shaughnessy Website Holiday Gratitude Contest!
We love photos & we love what expressing gratitude can do for the human spirit, so we are having our own 365 Grateful Inspired Charles Shaughnessy Gratitude Photo contest!
This is how you enter:
Take a photo, it MUST be a photo that YOU have taken, of something that you are grateful for or that fills your heart with gratitude when you see it. You can enter ONE PHOTO per day, but you can enter every day, if you want, until we end the contest.
Please send your entries to firstname.lastname@example.org To be included in the contest, in the body of the email, you MUST include a SHORT (about 50 words) description about the photo and why you chose it, the date that you are submitting each photo, at least your first name and the city and/or state & country you live in, then attach a photo big enough for us to use, to your email. If you are on Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter, feel free to include your sign on names for those networks. We will tag you if we can.
The contest will go on for several months at least, and though we don’t mind if you use older photos that you already have as well, we hope you will take new photos whenever you feel the inspiration of something that makes you feel grateful, snap a photo with your phone and submit it with a little description. It will change the way you see the world when you see it through capturing the things with a camera, that make you feel grateful.
Will there be prizes from us? Of course! But remember . . . you do NOT have to accept a prize! We want you to do this because it makes you feel good to think about the things you are grateful for each day and take a photo of them. That’s the real prize! If one of your photos is chosen as a winner, you will be contacted by email & can decide then. We will need a full name and address at that time to send the prize to.
The photos will be showcased on my Official Charles Shaughnessy Fan Page on Facebook, each day in it’s own album. If you want to see the photos so far, be sure to LIKE my page first then go to this Gratitude Photos on Facebook Link to see all of the photos that have been submitted so far.
This is VERY IMPORTANT!!!
***Please Note & understand that by entering the 365 Grateful Inspired Charles Shaughnessy Photo Gratitude contest, you still retain the copyright & ownership of your own photos, but you are giving Charles Shaughnessy & Shaughnessy Productions the right to reproduce them online in association with this contest. Send your entries to email@example.com
I am very excited to be presenting this contest & opportunity for you to capture & write about the things in your life that you are grateful for. I hope you enjoy this challenge & that it fills your hearts by participating in it. Have a great time snapping photos! By the way, what I am most grateful for is in the photo at the top of this page. My family.
“If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.”
Ok, I know you’ve missed me…..here we go again!!! Its getting into THAT season again, so I figure its time to fire the first salvo.
There was an interesting book being discussed on the radio today: “It’s even worse than it looks,” by Thomas Mann of the Brookings Institution and Norman Ornstein of the conservative American Enterprise Institute. It is about the total breakdown of Congress as able to effect any kind of useful governance. Hardly any surprise. But here’s the interesting bit. Even though one of the author’s is a “dyed in the wool” Republican, the two of them agreed that after extensive research and analysis it was simply not valid to assign equal blame. They detailed how the established and enforced culture among congressional Republicans was simply to block ANY useful democratic legislation lest Obama should get the credit. They quoted Mitch McConnell, at the beginning of the last session saying that it was the Republicans’ DUTY to block any Democratic lawmaking lest ” Republican fingerprints lend any credibility to the President.” In other words, we are not here to make effective legislation for the American people, nor help America through these difficult times, but to wage an all-out war against the President and the Democratic Party. ….and this is out of the mouth of a Republican. Now, they did also agree that, in the past, the Democrats have come off none too heroic. They point to the period of sustained Democrat power up to the end of the ’40s as one of apathy, carelessness and abuse, but for sheer, obstructive, negative politicking, they agree that this Republican bunch take the biscuit. They stated that to argue that Congress was broken and that BOTH parties were to blame, was both misleading, disempowering to the electorate and dangerously ill-informed.
So, people, don’t let this Right Wing tactic of ” oh, they’re all as bad as each other” fool you. It is possible to have one side do all the damage. There really was just one aggressor at Pearl Harbor, you know. This election, if only for the future of our Constitution at the hands of this activist Supreme Court, is a vital one. If you want to have our government sold to the highest, corporate bidder, as it is through Citizens United, and a return to the “hands-off” de-regulation that plunged our markets, credit and 401Ks off a cliff, then vote Republican and make Romney our President. If you want a serious effort to continue on the road to economic, social and institutional recovery, vote for a Democrat congress and for President Obama. Either way, promise me ONE THING: make sure you get fully informed on the issues this time. Don’t settle for sound bites or TV Ads. Research the facts as these two did and make your own conclusions.
Ok, now….let me have it!!!

Shane was last seen leaving Salem with Kimberly following Alice Horton’s memorial service in June 2010. Prior to that, the actor made a brief return in 2002. “I think this was the most fun of my return trips because everyone was sort of back to where I left off originally,” observes Shaughnessy. “Stefano is plotting against everyone. It was fun working with my pals again.”
The actor will make 12 appearances over the next several weeks, and will cross paths with Shane’s former love, Kayla. “Shane and Kayla see each other at the Brady Pub,” previews Shaughnessy. “MARY BETH [EVANS, KAYLA] is a darling. We always laugh our heads off and have a great time. I’ve kept up with her quite a bit since leaving Days.”
